Problem
In too many countries, laws that criminalize sex work, drug use, and homosexual activity handicap effective HIV/AIDS programs. There are too many laws that fail to protect people from discrimination based on their HIV status. In some countries, legislators want to make better laws, but they don't always know how to apply human rights norms and principles to the law in areas related to HIV/AIDS.
The Gift
The Legal Network has compiled information kits and model law tools for policy- and law-makers in a number of countries. Your gift could help us provide sorely needed knowledge and expertise to legislators in the form of model law provisions, case studies in the application of human rights norms to AIDS-related policy and legislation, and comparative analyses of existing law and policy. Your support could put user-friendly materials in the hands of those who can shape a rights-based legal framework that protects people affected by HIV/AIDS.
